Airtel has announced the launch of its Platinum 3G network for customers in Bengaluru and Punjab. Powered by the dual spectrum band of the efficient 900 Mhz along with 2100 Mhz, Airtel’s Platinum 3G is said to offer better indoor coverage, better voice clarity, and faster internet speeds. The Platinum 3G is merely an enhancement of the existing 3G network, hence, the customers need not require to do any additional subscriptions to avail its benefits.

Commenting on the launch of Platinum 3G, C. Surendran, CEO – Karnataka, Bharti Airtel Limited said, “The launch of Platinum 3G is an integral part of this commitment and will deliver enhanced voice as well as data connectivity for customers on 3G as we continue to roll out 4G services in the State.”

“At Airtel, we recently launched “Project Leap”, a national network transformation drive and look forward to augmenting our data presence to more regions and deliver a compelling network experience for our customers. We invite data savvy customers to enjoy Airtel Platinum 3G and experience our world class ‘Platinum Network’,” he said.

Project Leap is a nationwide network transformation program, where Airtel has made a planned investment of Rs. 60,000 Crores to improve its network quality over the next three years.

With the deployments across Karnataka, Airtel presently has covered almost all towns with 3G services and 4G services are available for customers in 120 towns in the state, said a press release from the company.

Meanwhile, in Punjab, Airtel Platinum 3G is available in all 149 census towns across Punjab circle.

Commenting on the launch of Platinum 3G services in Punjab, Manu Sood, Hub CEO – Upper North, Bharti Airtel said, “We are delighted to launch Platinum 3G in all 149 towns across Punjab that will redefine mobile experience for our customers. With Platinum 3G and 4G Airtel has the largest and widest mobile broadband network deployment in the state and our customers can now enjoy superior data speeds, significantly enhanced indoor data coverage and better voice clarity across the state.  This launch is part of Project Leap, Airtel’s nationwide network transformation initiative and underlines our commitment to our customers. We will continue to invest in network augmentation across Punjab to deliver best-in-class mobile services to our customers.”

For Platinum 3G, Airtel is offering some introductory offers in Punjab. Double data 3G packs is one among those, where the customers will get additional data benefits at night, effectively doubling the data limits for customers. E.g. with the new double data pack of Rs 298/-, customers will get 2GB data (1GB 3G regular + 1GB night) with the validity of 28 days.
