Reliance Jio has been off the radar for a while now. The company has been watching incumbent telcos introduce new tariff plans since October 19, and today, it introduced two new tariff plans of Rs 199 and Rs 299 touting them as Happy New Year 2018 plans. The new tariff plans are here to compete with tariff plans from Airtel, Idea Cellular, and Vodafone India.
So, Reliance Jio now has a Rs 199 tariff plan like other telecom operators, and it offers better benefits than others. The Rs 199 tariff plan offers 1.2GB data per day for 28 days, along with unlimited voice calls including roaming calls. Secondly, the Rs 299 plan offers 2GB data per day for 28 days from the date of recharge, along with unlimited voice calls including roaming calls.
Apart from offering slightly extra data when compared to other telcos, Reliance Jio is giving unlimited after FUP speed of 128 Kbps, which is the primary highlight of these plans. That said, other tariff plans of Jio remain the same. These two new plans are applicable for Reliance JioPrime customers.
Earlier today, we reported that Bharti Airtel has revised the Rs 199 tariff plan and started offering 1GB data per day for 28 days along with unlimited voice calls (including roaming), 100 SMS per day. Seeing that, Reliance Jio has introduced these two plans taking the battle to a new level.
Reliance Jio is still offering other tariff plans of Rs 399, Rs 459, Rs 499, and Rs 509. The Rs 399 plan offers 1GB data per day, unlimited voice calls, 100 SMS per day for 70 days, followed by the Rs 459 plan for 84 days; the Rs 499 plan is valid for 91 days, and lastly, the Rs 509 tariff plan gives 2GB data per day for 49 days.
When Xiaomi launched the Redmi 5A smartphone in India, Reliance Jio announced a Rs 199 tariff plan exclusively for the Redmi 5A users. The Rs 199 tariff plan for Xiaomi Redmi 5A gives 1GB data per day, unlimited voice calls, and 100 SMS per day for 28 days.
Like I stated, with these two plans, Reliance Jio is taking the battle to a whole new level. And it will be interesting to see how Airtel, Idea Cellular, and Vodafone India reacts to these two plans from Jio.
