Airtel Brings 4G to Thrissur ( Kerala )

Airtel, today announced the commercial launch of its high speed 4G services (also called LTE) in Thrissur. Now, customers in the city can experience high speed wireless broadband on Airtel 4G and get on to the digital superhighway to enjoy uninterrupted HD video streaming, superfast uploading and downloading of movies, music and images. Airtel 4G is available to customers across a range of smart devices including mobile phones, dongles &4G hotspots.


Commenting on the launch of Airtel 4G in the city, George Mathen, HUB CEO – Kerala& Tamil Nadu, Bharti Airtel said, “As customers in India show an increasing propensity for consuming data services, we at Airtel are excited to take the lead in introducing the market to the power of blazing 4G speeds. With the help of the feedback received from the beta launches, we have now built India’s first commercial 4G network. Today, as we launch Airtel 4G for our customers in Thrissur they will be uniquely positioned for a superlative 4G experience. We are committed to building a world class 4G network in Kerala”.

Airtel has led the 4G story in India, having launched India’s first 4G network in Kolkata in April 2012. On 6th August 2015, Airtel announced that its 4G services were available in 296 towns across India. Prior to that, Airtel had successfully conducted trials of its 4G services in select cities and leveraged feedback from customers towards strengthening its service experience.

airtel 4g is purely using 2300 mhz tdd right not the 1800 mhz fdd combination in Kerala ??
whether 20 MHz tdd ( airtel 2300 mhz) or 10 MHz fdd (idea 1800 mhz) will have faster downloading ???

To all the dudes in Kerela. If Airtel isn’t doing anything, why stay on their network? Port out to Idea, and if you dont want to, just make a new idea sim to throw out when Jio launches 😛 As far as I know, Idea has the best coverage in Maharashtra(& Goa), and Kerela. Idea is also giving 3g speed on their 2g packs. My dad has an idea sim, and he recharged for 198rs 1GB, and he gets to latch on the 3g network, as well as download at 5Mbps. Actually idea is my primary sim… airtel i am using for just tasting 4g and to check coverage….


every 1 out of 3 using idea in Maharashtra . My friends using there idea.


Is 198 2g pack???how costly this 2g pack in idea…here in kerala idea giving 92 or 144 for 1gb 3g data….now 3g is cheaper rate for idea and airtel..then why u recharged this high price 2g pack??sometimes it will be 3g pack so u can get 3g speed… I am from kerala using both airtel and idea….but i often roam across tamilnadu,while roaming idea coudnt get any 3g ..but airtel 3g present in tamilnadu and getting high speed im am prefering airtel as primary…otherwise idea is the best in kerala..through icr in kerala im getting airtel speed above 7… Read more »

yeah well, my dad has been using idea since a really long time. He used BPL mobile before, but switched to idea as we were getting signal in my house, and only Idea signal. I don’t think Vodafone or Airtel was there… well, about the 198 rs pack, idk, told dad to do a cheaper recharge, but he doesnt wanna do it. and oh, these packs are expensive right now because idea, vodafone and airtel are scared that jio is gonna eat into their profits(And Jio is definitely gonna eat into their profits) so they are doubling the prices of… Read more »
