American wireless carrier Verizon has expanded its network in the Savannah area of Georgia with new cell sites, bringing 4G LTE and 5G Ultra Wideband service to Pooler, Port Wentworth, and Savannah, including the Historic District. This upgrade, involving the activation of new cell sites, provides faster and more reliable connectivity for residents, visitors, and businesses, Verizon said in a recent statement.

New In-Building Network
These upgrades enable Verizon to support more network traffic, deliver better performance to customers, and introduce new products and services. In addition to the expanded coverage and capacity across Chatham County, Verizon said it has activated a new in-building network at the Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport, providing 4G LTE and 5G Ultra Wideband coverage for travellers as they move through the airport.

Commenting on the network expansion, Verizon said: "By deploying this additional capacity, we are providing more opportunities for our customers in the Savannah area to utilise Verizon's best-in-class network to connect with families, friends, homes, and businesses."
Multi-Year Investment Commitment for Georgia
According to Verizon, this upgrade is part of its multi-year, nationwide network transformation. In 2023, Verizon committed to investing USD 112 million across the state of Georgia, with much of that allocated for network upgrades in coastal Georgia. The investments announced today are a realisation of that commitment, the operator said.
