JioTV App for Android Gets Dark Mode With Latest Update

Reliance Jio has been adding new features to its content apps every now and then. In its latest update, JioTV for Android has received Dark Mode functionality. This is a significant feature already present on the JioCinema app and it has now been added to JioTV app with the 5.8.0 update. In JioCinema, the feature comes enabled by default, however, that's not the case with JioTV as a user will have to enable it by heading over to app settings manually. With Android Q, Google is officially rolling out native Dark Mode and the search giant even admitted that dark mode saves battery life on smartphones. Even iOS 13 has a dedicated dark mode, something every iPhone user asked for years now.

JioTV App Gets Dark Mode With Android 5.8.0 Update

JioTV 5.8.0 update is already available for download via Google Play Store. Alternatively, users can sideload the APK file by downloading it from the web. After downloading the latest version of JioTV, it presents you the option of enabling Dark Mode with a single tap. In case you missed that option, you can head over to the JioTV app settings to enable dark mode manually. Dark Mode on JioTV is pretty much identical to the one present on JioCinema application.

Earlier this year, Reliance Jio added Picture-in-Picture feature to JioTV app, allowing users to watch content even after closing the app. Picture-in-Picture was one of the most demanded features after Dark Mode, so it's good to see the company adding them back to back.

JioTV app from Reliance Jio offers Live TV channels of more than 600, and it's the most popular app in the Jio's application catalogue. On the other hand, JioCinema app offers content from various OTT players like ALT Balaji, HOOQ, VOOT and so on. JioCinema and JioTV apps are standalone apps from Reliance Jio, unlike Airtel and Vodafone Idea, which are providing Live TV and OTT content via a single app. Airtel TV offers both Live TV and OTT apps content, while Vodafone has Vodafone Play and Idea has Idea Movies & TV app, providing similar content to the customers.

JioTV App Offers More Live TV Channels Than Airtel TV

JioTV app is currently available only to Reliance Jio users and they'll have to maintain an active recharge to watch content inside the app.
Right now, JioTV is providing a total of 639 Live TV channels, beating Airtel TV's channel count of 349 by a huge margin. Ever since its inception, JioTV offered more channels than Airtel TV, Vodafone Play and Idea Movies & TV apps.

JioTV for Android and iOS can be downloaded for free from the respective app stores. JioTV also comes pre-installed on JioPhone and JioPhone 2 feature phones, allowing users to watch content in the tiny screen. Alongside JioTV, apps like JioCinema, MyJio, JioMoney also come pre-installed on JioPhones.

In other news, it's expected that Reliance Jio will announce the JioPhone 3 at the company's recently concluded AGM 2019 meeting. But the company did not even reveal any details regarding the JioPhone 3, instead, it announced the commercial launch date of JioFiber which is September 5.
