Huawei's child brand Honor has launched a new smartphone in India- the Honor 8 Pro, which the brand pre-launched a few weeks ago. The Honor 8 Pro succeeds the last year's Honor 8 in India and comes with the same price tag of Rs. 29,999, and will be exclusive to Amazon India. The brand has launched only the 6GB of RAM and 128GB storage variant in India, a good option, nevertheless.
The Honor 8 Pro is an all-round smartphone with powerful hardware and decent cameras. And yes, the USP of the phone is its dual camera setup at the back. Huawei has added two 12MP sensors at the back. One captures standard RGB shots, while the other one shoots monochrome images. The handset comes with an 8MP front-facing camera.
Rest of the specs are top-notch as well. The device flaunts a 5.7-inch Quad HD display, carrying a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels, and 515 PPI. Huawei has gone with the HiSilicon Kirin 960 SoC to power the smartphone, which is an octa-core chip. As mentioned earlier, the device comes with a 6GB RAM and 128GB storage option, unlike other countries, where the company has launched a 4GB RAM option as well.
The Honor 8 Pro competes with the OnePlus 5 in India and uses a complete metal body construction. We have already compiled a detailed comparison between Honor 8 Pro and OnePlus 5, check it out here.
In the software department, the device runs on heavily customised EMUI 5.0 based on Android Nougat. The phone is backed by a massive 4000mAh battery, which is an advantage for the phone over its rivals.
Connectivity options in the phone include 4G LTE, VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and USB Type-C port. The device also has NFC support, but it's of no use in India because we don't have Android Pay support yet.
The device measures 157x77.5x6.97mm and weigh 184 grams. Huawei has added all the basic sensors such as an accelerometer, ambient light sensor, digital compass, gyroscope, an infrared sensor, and proximity sensor.
The Huawei Honor 8 Pro is a real competitor to the OnePlus 5, and the latter beats the Honor 8 Pro only in the processor department. And yes, the OnePlus 5 costs Rs. 3,000 more than the Honor 8 Pro.
