Vodafone India Intensifies the Tariff War by Offering Unlimited 2G Data at Just Rs. 249

Vodafone India is now offering unlimited calls and unlimited internet at just Rs. 249 per month, following Jio's closure of Summer Surprise offer. Vodafone has started pushing this offer to some users in specific circles (Andhra Pradesh), and we believe that the offer is valid on a pan India basis.

To recall, Vodafone launched the 'Welcome Offer' plan of Rs. 249 for new users who are joining in the network. Under the Rs. 249 plan, the company offered unlimited voice calls along with unlimited 2G data for 28 days. And now, the company is expanding the same plan for all prepaid users to counter rival operators.

Vodafone's new Rs. 249 plan offers unlimited 2G data per month and the FUP per month is 10GB. Post the FUP; users will get a speed of 40 Kbps. The company is offering unlimited voice calls to any network across India with a daily data cap of 300 minutes.

The plan is valid for all the Vodafone prepaid users across India and can be availed only via Vodafone ETop recharge, which is a letdown. Most of you might complain about the unlimited 2G offer in the 4G era, but most of the areas in India are still under 2G coverage.

If you want a better data plan or 3G/4G plan, there is the Rs. 347 plan (price varies with the circle) for prepaid customers offering 1GB data per day along with unlimited local and STD calling and free national incoming roaming calls. On the other hand, Airtel is concentrating heavily on the postpaid plans by bundling more data with its myPlan Infinity postpaid plans.

State-run telecom operator, BSNL has Rs. 339 promotional plan under which it is offering 2GB data per day along with unlimited on-net calling and 25 minutes of off-net calls every day. Idea Cellular also has Rs. 346 plan under which the company is offering almost same benefits of 1GB data per day along with unlimited calling.

What do you think of this new plan from Vodafone? Will you prefer this scheme over the 3G/4G data plan? Let us know in the comments section below.
