Samsung Gear S smartwatch now available in India for Rs. 27,900

Samsung is going all guns blazing in the wearable and smartwatch category. It currently has the highest number of smartwatches and fitness bands in the country. Last week, Samsung started taking pre-orders for the Gear S through its  official online store for Rs. 1,000. Today, Samsung has launched the Gear S in India for Rs. 27,990, which is available through Amazon and Samsung India eStore in black and white colours.

The Samsung Gear S is the first SIM-equipped smartwatch from the Korean giant and is equipped with a 2-inch curved Super AMOLED display, 1GHz dual-core processor, 512MB RAM, 4GB ROM, and 300 mAh battery. It is also equipped with 3G SIM card slot, Wi-Fi b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.0, A-GPS, accelerometer, UV sensor, and a heart-rate monitor.

It is currently the costliest smartwatch in India and its closest competitors are the Samsung Gear 2 and Motorola Moto 360. LG is expected to launch the G Watch R in India soon. The LG G Watch (W100) is the most value for money smartwatch in India right now.
