Earlier this month, we had written a hands-on article about the Airtel Internet TV highlighting how it’s changing the TV viewing experience in the country with its innovative features. The Airtel Internet TV has many features which sets it apart from the other set-top-boxes in the country.

The Airtel Internet TV is priced at Rs. 4,999, which will give customers free access for three months. Customers also have an offer of Rs. 7,999, where Airtel is offering a one-year subscription to all the channels. Also, the existing Airtel DTH users will get the STB at just Rs. 3,999 with three months free subscriptions. Will the Airtel Internet TV justify the asking price with its features? Here are the five features of the Airtel Internet TV which are unique for an STB.

Based on Android TV Platform

First things first, the Airtel Internet TV runs on Google’s Android TV platform and is a 4K set-top box that comes with 2GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage.

It also supports – Google Voice search, Dolby ATMOS, SD Card and multiple USB slots. Furthermore, it also has inbuilt 4K Chromecast support for casting and screen mirroring your phone’s content.

Airtel is also committed to providing the best technology and features for our users. As this is an Android based platform, there will be incremental features and regular updates to the InternetTV that will enable new features going forward. Some of the features that will be coming soon are – Video conferencing app, Cloud storage and recording, Catch-up TV, Restart TV, etc.

A Voice-Based Remote Control

The Airtel Internet TV has a Bluetooth voice-based remote control, which allows you issue phrases via voice. Also, you can use your phone as a smart controller for playing games and use it as a remote as well. You can connect your Bluetooth devices such as speakers, headsets to enjoy better audio.

Airtel Gamepad Application

Airtel has also launched a new Gamepad application for mobile phones exclusively for the Airtel Internet TV. There’s a Remote feature as well, as said earlier. Remote is a feature that lets you control your Airtel Digital TV set top box using the app.

The Airtel Gamepad is a feature that allows you use your smartphone as a game controller for Games available on Internet TV set-top box under Airtel Games. The Gamepad app connects to the Airtel Internet TV over Bluetooth.

Apps Such as Netflix, YouTube Comes Preinstalled

There is no cost to use YouTube, and other Google provided applications. There are many free games and Apps available that can be downloaded on the Airtel Internet TV.

Airtel Movies comes with a free three-month subscription for Eros Now movies on the pre-authorization basis. Later customer has to pay separately for the service. To watch Netflix, customers need a separate subscription. While Netflix offers one month free trial for new subscribers on a pre-authorization basis.

The Airtel Internet TV is Compatible With All the TVs Out There

The Airtel Internet TV is compatible with all types of TVs including 4K, HD on LED, LCD, or plasma technology as it supports HDMI output. It can also be connected to older TV sets over Audio, video cable. Additionally, it also has output to connect to Home theatre that works on Optic cable.

Airtel broadband customers with rental < 999, will get additional 10GB & with rental >999, will get additional 25GB on the broadband account every month. 10% cash back every month on Internet TV recharge post free subscription.

I have upgraded my Airtel DTH to Airtel Internet TV by May’17 and till then I have invited suffer of my life. Very frequently most of the channel after a certain series gets disappers from channel list as well as manual selection and message comes as “invalid chanel number” Same issue reported 10times in last 40-50 days but no solution offered till date. Every time when I call them they eat almost my 30mins and i have to tell them the same issue to each level of customer care team, they promise to resolve the issues but they never turned… Read more »

I subscribed 1 year plan , they give 9 months only after they disrupt my connection ,I am also had the same frustration they simply not giving any solution , my complaint registered date 11/11/2016, till now they never solve.

I knew it. We Indians are last in the service. I have gone through this. That is why we should be smart and wait. This kind of internet tv is very new and is in nascent stage. It will take alleast 5 years since even net in India is very slow. Best thing is to dump the Airtel tv box for now, its no use calling them. Myself having Airtel set top box. Lots of problem when called customer care. We do not get proper answer. Every person tells differently. You better stick to simple set top box than have… Read more »
