Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 May Launch in India Next Month as the Company Promises Exciting February

Xiaomi India is unusually silent since the start of 2018, and it looks like there won't be any smartphone launches from the company this month. But, Xiaomi India PR lead Clinton Jeff promises an exciting February, confirming the launch of Xiaomi smartphones next month. There's a possibility that Xiaomi may launch the Redmi Note 5 itself next month in India, but chances are the company might bring the Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus to the Indian market. However, Clinton did not reveal the company's plans though.

As per a recent report, it was stated that Xiaomi would not launch the Redmi Note 5 until Q2 2018 and the reasons for the delay is the company doesn't want to offer Snapdragon 630 SoC, which is a marginal upgrade over the Snapdragon 625 found on several mid-range Xiaomi devices such as Redmi Note 4, Mi Max 2, and the Mi A1.

If we assume this report as a true one, we will see the Redmi 5 Plus making its way to the Indian market. The Xiaomi Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus were launched at an event in China last month, and both the devices sport 18:9 display. It might go this way- Xiaomi will launch the Redmi 5 as a successor to the Redmi 4, which is an expected thing. But the popular Redmi Note 4 will be replaced with the Redmi 5 Plus, until the arrival of Redmi Note 5.

There's one more option to consider here. The Redmi 5 Plus may be modified slightly with better internals and will launch as the Redmi Note 5 itself. That said, we don't have any information at the moment on what's Xiaomi cooking up for the Indian market.

At the moment, the Chinese company is in the process of rolling out new software updates to its older generation smartphones and also making the MIUI 9 more stable. Xiaomi is expected to roll out Global Stable ROM for the last batch of devices in the coming weeks. The last batch of devices includes- Redmi 4A, Redmi Note 3, Redmi 3S/Prime, and Mi4i. We will keep you posted once we get any information on Xiaomi's development for the Indian market, till then stay tuned.
