The successor to the Redmi Note 6 Pro is already here. Xiaomi launched the Redmi Note 7 last week for 999 yuan (roughly around Rs 10,500). Notably, the Redmi Note 7 is the first smartphone launched under the separated Redmi brand, the second phone is expected to be Redmi Note 7 Pro. Overall, the Redmi Note 7 isn’t your typical Xiaomi Redmi phone. The Redmi Note 7 comes with a range of new features which hasn’t been seen on a Xiaomi phone before. Features like gradient finish, waterdrop notch, glass back, slim bezels and all of it at a pocket-friendly price tag make the Redmi Note 7 special. Xiaomi has launched the Redmi Note 7 only in China for now, but the company is expected to launch the phone in India very soon and also in other markets. Xiaomi India, however, is yet to reveal details about the coming of Redmi Note 7 in India. Overall, the Redmi Note 7 is a great phone in a lot of ways, following are a new few points why this Xiaomi Redmi phone is worth the buy.

Design

We know Xiaomi has always focused on offering a powerhouse and with Redmi Note 7 it does the same but unlike in other phones also concentrates on the design department. The Redmi Note 7 is the first Redmi phone from Xiaomi to come with gradient finish. Overall, the Redmi Note 7 comes with the same design as the Mi Play. In fact, even after begin such an affordable phone the Redmi Note 7 comes with a 2D glass layer on the back panel to give the phone a premium touch. Coming to the front of the phone, the Redmi Note 7 includes a waterdrop notch display much like the Mi Play. Notably, it is the first Redmi phone from Xiaomi to come with the tiny notch.

Price

Price is one of the best aspects about the Redmi Note 7. The smartphone offers great value for the money. A 48MP camera phone with gradient finish, waterdrop notch, Snapdragon 660, big display and more at just a starting price if 999 yuan, which roughly translates to Rs 10,500. This price is for the base model of the Note 7 which comes with 3GB RAM+32GB of internal storage. The 4GB RAM and 64GB of storage model of the Redmi Note 7 come for 1199 yuan (roughly around Rs 12,400) while the 6GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage model of the phone come for 1399 yuan (roughly around Rs 14,500).

USB Type C Port

Finally, Xiaomi gets rid of the Micro USB port and brings Type C to Redmi. The Redmi Note 7 comes packed with a 4000mAh battery with Quick Charge 4 support.

Waterproof?

Beginning this week Xiaomi's CEO Lei Jun talked about an interesting feature of the Redmi Note 7. He took to the Chinese microblogging site, Weibo to reveal that the Redmi Note 7 uses watertight seals, unlike any phone at this price segment. Jun explained that the Redmi Note 7 has watertight seals at essential points like ports and buttons. This is basically to prevent water from entering the phone.

48MP camera on the rear

Even though the Redmi Note 7 is such an affordable phone, there are two cameras on the back panel and one on the front. The Redmi Note 7 comes with a primary camera of a 48MP sensor with an f/1.8 aperture on the back panel. It is surprising to see a 48MP camera that uses Samsung ISOCELL Bright GM1 sensor inside a phone this affordable. The Note 7 comes with a secondary camera of the 5MP sensor which is dedicated to click portrait shots. On the front, the Redmi Note 7 includes a 13MP camera for clicking selfies. The front cam sits inside the waterdrop notch.
