Xiaomi Mi 5 was undoubtedly on the list of most awaited devices of the year 2016. However, we were not expecting it to garner such a thunderous user response on its first sale. Xiaomi revealed that it received 16.8 million registrations for its first sale, today, in China. Given the high-end specifications at a competitive pricing, the Xiaomi Mi 5 was expected to create a substantial buyer buzz. It would be interesting to see if the device receives a similar response in the regions outside China.
Well, it is quite impressive to see a company getting such a response even before its product hits the sale shelf. The Xiaomi Mi 5 has been priced at $300 and was announced at MWC 2016, Barcelona. The device is set to go on sale at 10 AM today (China time). In the initial phase, Xiaomi will only be offering a White color variant of the smartphone, in 3GB RAM/32GB storage and 3GB/64GB storage options.
Xiaomi has not yet revealed the sale timeline for other color variants and the exclusive Ceramic variant. To recap, the Xiaomi Mi 5 features a power-packed Snapdragon 820 chipset, a 16MP primary camera with 4-Axis OIS and PDAF with dual-LED flash, a 4MP UltraPixel Camera. It comes with a 5.15-inch display with 1080p resolution, and a 3,000mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0.
