Vodafone India has not let its efforts fade out against the competition in the light of its new merger with Idea Cellular. Vodafone has introduced two new plans and has managed to beat the likes of Bharti Airtel with its new offerings. The telecom carrier has introduced prepaid plans of Rs 549 and Rs 799. These two plans by Vodafone priced at Rs 549 and Rs 799 offer 3.5GB and 4.5GB daily 2G/3G/4G data benefit along with calling and other bundled offerings.

The above mentioned new plans by Vodafone have managed to push down Bharti Airtel since Airtel offers 3.5GB data with its Rs 549 plan, while the Rs 799 plan only offers 4GB data per day for 28 days. The plans also stand a solid chance against Reliance Jio’s prepaid portfolio which includes Rs 509 and Rs 799 prepaid plan, with the latter offering 5GB daily data.

Vodafone Rs 549 Prepaid Plan
Vodafone's Rs 549 prepaid bonus card offers 98 GB for 28 days with a daily limit of 3.5GB data per day. The combo plan also gives unlimited voice calling to users, with free local/STD calls with roaming included. Subscribers also get the benefit of 100 texts/SMS per day.

Vodafone Rs 549 prepaid recharge plan is the answer to Jio’s Rs 509 combo pack that offers 4GB of daily data usage. The company is offering a total of 112GB of 4G high-speed internet for a validity period of 28 days. Similarly, included in the plan is unlimited local, STD and roaming voice calling and 100 SMS per day.

Vodafone Rs 799 Prepaid Plan
The Rs 799 plan also comes with the same validity of 28 days, but on the data front, it offers whopping 4.5 GB of daily data usage. Under the plan, Vodafone will be offering 126GB data in total for 28 days. In addition, users will also get additional benefits like unlimited local/STD and roaming calls and 100 SMS free per day.

This plan competes directly with Jio's Rs 799 plan which offers a total of 140GB of 4G data, with a 5GB daily usage limit. Jio offers 0.5GB more than what Vodafone gives under its Rs 799 plan. The pack also gives unlimited local, STD and roaming calls along with 100 free texts.

As always you get a free subscription to Jio apps like Jio Music, JioCinema and JioTV. Vodafone, on the other hand, is offering a subscription to Vodafone Play for all its customers. Reliance Jio still stays ahead with higher data bundled with their plans in comparison to Vodafone, but Vodafone is slightly ahead of Airtel, but the leading telecom operator is expected to counter very soon.

Vodafone Idea Merger

Recently the Department of Telecommunications has finally given its last and only needed approval for the Vodafone Idea merger. This final clearance by DoT has paved the way for Vodafone Idea Ltd, the largest telco in the country in terms of Revenue Market Share and subscribers. After this final nod from the department, the Vodafone India company will be dissolved, and the licenses along with the assets and liabilities of the company will shift to Idea Cellular. The new company will be called Vodafone Idea Ltd, as confirmed by Idea earlier.

Tough time ahead for Airtel and Vodafone

According to a Crisil report, the profits of Airtel, Vodafone and Idea have halved in the last three years. It's also said that the profits have plunged by 1000 bps in operating margins and now, the recovery is seen only from FY20 when the consolidation in the industry is complete.
