American wireless carrier UScellular is set to build three new cell towers in Grayson County, aiming to boost mobile wireless connectivity and public safety. Funded by the county, these towers will bring 5G service to underserved areas in the western part of the county, with completion expected by mid-2026, the Chicago-based carrier said in a statement this week.

Enhancing Public Safety and Broadband Services
Grayson County will cover the construction costs, while UScellular will manage the logistics and ongoing maintenance. This partnership aims to address the county's unique connectivity challenges, ensuring essential broadband service reaches its most rural areas, the statement said.
Addressing Connectivity Challenges
According to UScellular, in addition to the added coverage and connectivity for residents, the county will utilise the new infrastructure to enhance 911 service throughout western Grayson County. These new sites will also allow UScellular to expand its fixed wireless (FWA) offering, bringing high-speed Internet to more homes and businesses in the county.

"We have unique connectivity challenges in Grayson County, so we need to think differently to ensure we can provide essential broadband service to our most rural areas," said the Grayson County Administrator.
