We're just four days from the 2017's much-anticipated phone to become official. The OnePlus 5 is slated to launch on June 20, and the company has consistently been teasing the phone to build the hype, as it always does with before its smartphone launch.
Now that the phone is already confirmed to land in India on June 22 and will be up for sale on the same day, there's a little confusion popping up in everyone's mind- Should I but the OnePlus 3T in 2017, even after the announcement of OnePlus 5? Or should I get the 3T if the company reduces its price? Should I get the OnePlus 5 itself? What changes will the OnePlus 5 bring when compared to the OnePlus 3T?
Well, for now, we know almost all the details about the OnePlus 5, minus the camera setup implementation and battery capacity. In this article, we will try to compare the original OnePlus 3T with the rumoured features of the OnePlus 5, which will clear the air whether to wait for the 5 or go with the 3T right away.

OnePlus released the first teaser image of the phone last week, and since then, fans started mocking the company because the device looks exactly similar to the Apple iPhone 7 Plus and Oppo R11 (a clone of the iPhone 7 Plus released earlier this month).

We haven't seen the device in full glory, but from the front, the phone looks a lot similar to the OnePlus 3T and from the back, it's an Oppo R11. Yesterday, few images appeared online saying that the OnePlus 5's back case fits perfectly to the Oppo R11, and that's surprising because OnePlus is claiming that the phone will be different in real life and don't judge a smartphone by seeing the renders.
Also, by releasing the teaser image, OnePlus confirmed that the upcoming flagship phone would feature the dual camera setup at the back. More on that in a bit.
The phone is claimed to feature the same display of 5.5-inch in size, and it would be a Full HD panel as well. There would be some changes under-the-hood though such as an increase in brightness levels, etc.
Hardware
This is where the OnePlus 5 excels. The phone is confirmed to use the Snapdragon 835 SoC with a 2.45GHz octa-core CPU, coupled with massive 8GB of RAM (confirmed by Amazon India source code) and 128GB internal storage. There will be a 6GB RAM option with 64GB storage as well. The OnePlus 3T uses the Snapdragon 821 chip, clubbed with a maximum of 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. And yes, there will be a Matte Black colour variant as a regular option this time around. Hardware wise, you should wait for the OnePlus 5 instead of getting the OnePlus 3T.
Camera
Another significant aspect where the OnePlus 5 wins is the camera because it packs a dual camera at the back. There might be a 20MP Monochrome sensor along with a 12MP standard RGB sensor. But nothing is officially confirmed from OnePlus until now. However, the company has teased the images shot by the OnePlus 5, which suggested that there would be a portrait mode on the phone, same as the Apple iPhone 7 Plus.
Various other rumours say that the OnePlus 5 will have the same camera as the Oppo R11 with a 16MP regular sensor and a 20MP sensor with a 2x telephoto lens.
Conclusion
The OnePlus 5 would bring changes in every aspect compared to the OnePlus 3T. And the standout ones will be the hardware and camera. And yes, it will be the vendor's thinnest flagship phone ever and we're assuming there might be a 3500mAh battery unit. The phone will boot Android 7.1.1 Nougat based Oxygen OS with few more tweaks.
Furthermore, if OnePlus slashes the price of OnePlus 3T by a huge margin of around Rs. 5,000 or more, then you can consider it.
