Teraco, Africa’s largest vendor-neutral data centre and interconnection platform provider, has provided an update on the construction progress of the JB4 Phase 2 data centre. The company has commenced construction on a new facility at its Bredell campus in Ekurhuleni, Johannesburg. This development aims to meet the growing demand for data centre services in the region.

JB4 Phase 2 Construction Underway
Following the successful completion of Phase 1 in November 2022, Teraco has commenced construction on Phase 2 of the JB4 facility, according to the company’s LinkedIn update. Once completed, JB4 will further enhance Teraco’s capacity and establish it as the largest single-structure data centre in Africa.
The JB4 facility offers highly resilient and secure colocation facilities, with plans for a total building structure of 80,000 square metres and a utility power supply of 80 MW, supporting a critical power load of 50 MW.
Expansion at Bredell Campus, Johannesburg
Located in the Bredell Campus in Ekurhuleni, east of Johannesburg, the first phase of JB4 was completed in October 2022, with over 20,000 square meters of technical deployment space and a power supply of 80 MVA.

Built to international hyper scaler specifications, the Bredell Campus serves the local and African markets, taking advantage of its strategic position in the Johannesburg Metropol’s trade and industry hub.
