Telecom Egypt Inks Deal to Launch 5G Services in Major Cities
Telecom Egypt will introduce 5G technology in collaboration with Nokia. The companies have signed a deal to upgrade Telecom Egypt's radio access network and introduce 5G-ready services in the cities of Alexandria, Aswan, Cairo, Giza, and Luxor. Under this partnership, Telecom Egypt will bring 5G technology to Egypt for the first time, the official release said on Monday.

Deployment Plans

The deployment, which will take place later this year, will see Nokia providing equipment from its AirScale portfolio, including Massive MIMO radios, baseband units, and remote radio heads, to deliver an exceptional network experience for Telecom Egypt's customers, including faster data speeds, enhanced performance, and increased capacity.

Benefits of 5G Technology

Furthermore, Nokia will offer various professional services encompassing deployment, integration, and network optimization. 5G technology is expected to bring numerous benefits, including increased capacity for seamless connectivity in some of Egypt's most densely populated areas.

"This new agreement with Nokia further strengthens our partnership, reaffirms our commitment to providing cutting-edge digital services, and positions us at the forefront of the 5G revolution," said Telecom Egypt. "Both our consumer and enterprise customers can look forward to enhanced mobile broadband and exciting new applications that leverage the speed and low latency of 5G technology."

Earlier this year, Telecom Egypt secured the country's first 5G license, which is valid for 15 years, TelecomTalk reported.
