Sony India today announced massive price cuts on three of its smartphones. The Sony Xperia XZ Premium, which is the company flagship smartphone will now retail for Rs 49,990, down from its launch price of Rs 59,990. The mid-range Xperia XA1 Ultra received a price cut of Rs 5,000 and will go for Rs 22,990, while the Xperia XA1 Plus' price is down to Rs 19,990 from Rs 24,990. The price cut will be effective starting today. Sony launched all the three smartphones last year, and the price cut also hints the arrival of the successors to the Indian market. Sony, at the recently concluded MWC 2018 event announced the Xperia XZ2 Premium, which could possibly land in India by the end of this month.
The Sony Xperia XZ Premium was the company's flagship smartphone launched back in June 2017. As you might be aware of, the Premium range of Sony smartphones offer a 4K display, and the Xperia XZ Premium comes with a 5.5-inch 4K HDR display with a resolution of 2160 x 3840 pixels. The device also packs Sony's Bravia TV technology to enhance the viewing experience. Being a 2017 flagship smartphone, the smartphone packs the Snapdragon 835 SoC and comes with 4GB of RAM, 64GB of internal storage.
The highlight of the Xperia XZ Premium includes the 19MP rear camera which sports a f/2.0 aperture, 25mm lens, 1/2.3-inch sensor, laser autofocus and PDAF technology. The device is capable of recording slow-motion videos at 960fps. To the front, there's a 13MP selfie camera. The fingerprint scanner is placed on the side, and the smartphone is backed by a 3230mAh battery.
Moving onto the Xperia XA1 Ultra and XA1 Plus, they were launched in India in July and September months respectively. They both offer mid-range hardware.
The Xperia XA1 Ultra comes in three colour options- Gold, White and Black. It has a 6-inch Full HD display on the front and is powered by the MediaTek Helio P20 SoC. There's 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage on the device. A 23MP camera is present at the back along with a 16MP front-facing shooter. The selfie camera also offers Optical Image Stabilisation (OIS) support. It's backed by a 2700mAh battery.
The Xperia XA1 Plus, on the other hand, features similar specifications as the XA1 Ultra but comes in a compact form factor. It has a 5.5-inch Full HD display, comes with the same MediaTek Helio P20 SoC, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of storage, similar camera setup but a downgraded 8MP selfie camera and a larger 3430mAh battery.
