Today we had the opportunity to lay our hands on the yet to be launched 'Lenovo Vibe shot' smartphone. The vibe shot is a photography focused smartphone which features a 16 megapixel back cam with optical image stabilization, IR focus sensor and triple LED flash.
The handset has a premium feel in the hand with a metal frame running around the border and a brushed metal strip running vertically along the back of the phone containing the camera. The phone has a dedicated camera click button on the right edge and two dual sim slots on the left border. The phone has an Octa-core 1.7GHz processor, 3GB RAM and 32GB inbuilt memory.
The interesting part is, when we checked out the software interface of the phone we found a number of Jio apps pre-installed on the phone. Apps such as Jio experience, Jio friends, Jio drive and Jio beats as you can see in the last row of apps just above the dock in the screenshot below. We checked out the 'About phone' section which revealed the phone is running Android 5.1.1 which is the latest version of Lollipop. Also if you notice the Build number it ends with RJIL which is the abbreviation of Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd. suggesting that it is one of the many smartphones which Jio will be launching in mid September as they have previously declared.
Reliance Jio had earlier this month declared that it will be launching a wide range of smartphones between the price band of Rs.5000 to Rs.25000 in the second week of September before its formal launch of services in December. Lenovo Vibe shot is expected to retail around Rs.23000 when it is launched in India, the phone will support VoLTE which is the platform that Jio will be using to deploy its voice services.
