Reliance Jio has been aggressively pushing its 4G Feature Phone, the JioPhone as it has the potential to become the next big thing in the country. In the process, the company has started accepting cash on delivery as a payment option for the JioPhone. Until now, customers have to pay the amount of Rs 1,500 while booking the JioPhone from either Jio.com or Mobikwik or Amazon India website, but Jio is now offering COD option on its Jio.com, allowing customers to book the JioPhone without any worry.
As you can see in the image below, users who're looking to purchase the JioPhone through COD payment option will be given an option to choose free delivery service or to head over to nearby store address to pickup the phone. And at the time of delivery or store pickup, customers will be asked to pay Rs 1,500, which as you all might be aware is the security deposit amount. Jio will refund the entire amount after three years, subject to various terms and conditions, which can be found over here.
Also, at the time of paying to the delivery guy, you'll be forced to choose either the Rs 49 or Rs 153 prepaid JioPhone plans to enjoy the services of JioPhone. This recharge will act as a first recharge (FR) plan, post that you have to recharge with any of the plan to enjoy the benefits.
For the uninitiated, the Rs 49 plan of JioPhone gives 1GB data, and unlimited voice calls for 28 days, while the Rs 153 tariff plan offer 1.5GB data per day and unlimited voice calls for the same 28 days validity period.
Several customers who pre-booked the JioPhone in the first phase by paying Rs 500 were not interested in taking the JioPhone. But Jio's terms and conditions read that the once booked, there won't be any refund of that amount, which frustrated many users out there. But Jio has done a great job by offering the COD payment option, however, it's a much delayed one too.
