Reliance Jio soft launch soon, confirms Credit Suisse

Reliance Digital stores have received stocks of Jio SIM cards, as Reliance Jio readying a possible soft launch of 4G services soon, Credit Suisse said in a note Tuesday, adding customers would be able to pick up a Jio SIM card for Rs 200, which should come with free data and voice valid for three months.

“Our visits to Reliance Digital stores in Mumbai revealed that the stores are preparing for a possible soft launch of Jio’s 4G connections soon,” the firm said.

Credit Suisse reckons that Jio customers will get similar voice and data benefits which are being enjoyed by its group employees under the pilot launch. The free usage offered to employees in the December launch was 75GB data and 4500 mins calls.

“The tariffs post the three-month period are unknown. It needs to be seen if a customer needs to buy a Lyf handset to get the SIM, or if the SIMs will be sold standalone,” Credit Suisse said.

It said that many of the store staff have undergone training sessions in recent days in enrolling customers, managing documentation, explaining product features etc. The staff mentioned that they have received stocks of Jio SIM cards, but they have not been informed when the sales is to start,” the firm said.

As jio is in extension of beta launch. I think jio will launch like this -: 1. May2016 – jio for employees’ neighbours only 2. June 16 – jio for employees’ neighbours parents and uncle- aunty only 3. July 16 – jio for people living in 50 meters radius of towers only ( substaintally will increase 50 mtrs each month untill the testing of load is completed ) , which will take the testing to 2027 . In 2027, mr. Ambani will say , jio will start its operations comercially , when the network will be able to handle aliens… Read more »

Have you gone crazy? Let them first come out with their plans, then judge. Have you ever heard of stress testing? If Jio is going for soft launch beyond employees maybe it is for this purpose. True test of the network with millions of beta users. Then a flawless commercial launch will follow. People have tolerated pathetic plans and services of other telcos so long, a few months delay in commercial launch hardly makes a difference when the outcome is going to be the best network in the world.

Stress test?? Are you kidding me?? Nobody does stress test with general public participating. Watch this YT video =6qStmND8cj0. Stress test is always done by network operator and network infrastructure provider. Tell me one company in the world who did their stress test with general public. Its like selling a car and telling general public to test its safety features. Either you are Akash Ambani or some hardcore Jio worker who are unable to optimize their network even after few years.

On the one hand Ambani says we’ve created the network in such a way that I can handle even 100 times the expected data load per user and you talk about stress testing. They have a huge number of employees using JIO like crazy for three months now, hasn’t that given them a good idea by now. If the network is so robust and has been reported by people as working quite well then what more is there to test?

Jio is facing major VoLTE issues atleast in Hyderabad and Gurgaon. In both cities i have friends in Jio and i myself is using Jio in Hyderabad but mainly for data purpose. For me data is OK, gives me 10-15 mbps 7 out of 10 times. I hope they solve their network issues before handing out SIM cards to people.

Dude I have read some of your comments and i am sorry to say that you are living in a fantasy world. Please come to reality, Jio is not a charity who will offer you Rs.10 per GB. they are in the market for the same reason, to make maximum profit, just like others, they are not even 1% different. Don’t take Mukesh Ambani as a saint, he is one of the most corrupt business man in India. Now, I am a Jio user myself and just want to tell you about network quality. You are talking about stress test… Read more »

It would have been charity if the data was completely free. Low cost data will have an addictive effect on people because the demand for video consumption-streaming-downloading hd is very high. Each person will consume tens of times more data than they currently do. This is what Ambani is betting on. Low cost High Volume data. Get It?

It’s not saintliness if Mukesh Ambani offers 1 GB for 10 Rs. It’s just good business strategy. The technology is there to support high bandwidth high data usage for millions of customers. If millions of customers use Jio regularly and pay 500 Rs. – Rs. 1000 calculate the total monthly tariff. 10 crore customers x 500 (or 1000) = 5000 crores to 10000 crores per month. That looks like a smart business proposition to me. In just 12 months the revenues are 1.2 lakh crores just from data price. You think its fantasy to hope for cheaper data. There is… Read more »

I am using word “Fantacy” because Jio will not offer per GB price less than Rs.100, I guarantee you, just wait for few more days to Jio the unveil their plans. And Jio have to wait for few years before they reach 100 million. Jio is not the only operator who can offer cheap tariff. After launch every other operator will match their tariff, believe me. And according to some sources Jio will raise the tariff by 20-30% after 3-6 months. I already told you about the network quality. If you don’t believe me that I am using Jio, I… Read more »

dude… dnt ever put question on my info about jio… for your info the stress testing has been completed on 23rd feb… under ( bad requests, frames towards the device , unknown frames and protocols from the network, physical ports disconnecting)… only client server ip dropping is prevailing there.. which is not a big bug. It can be easily solved in 20-25 days completely. ( It will only force the device to reconnect to internet after a common / limited time frame.).. The open signal report stating jio is already slow was due to this stress testing. I dnt wish… Read more »

Nice jokes. (The cost of Jio (include everything)’s lyf cheapest handset is 780 approx only ( EVERYTHING MEANS EVERYTHING) and the costliest one costs them only 2670 approx only.) Lyf handsets are bad but they are not made by Freedom 251. Their cost is much higher than what you have suggested. I have friends in their commercial department. Secondly their target is to sell 80 Million handsets. Even if they manage to sell 10 Million ( i do not see why) , even then they will not make much money in handset sale. Probably 1000-1500 crore profit, which on 100,000… Read more »

People like to buy popular brands and think a lot before making a choice. I doubt there will be many young people who can be forced to purchase LYF phones. I don’t know whose bad idea this was to have an in house brand. Only way they can sell LYF phones is by bundling substantial benefits for at least 12 to 18 months

@ Sunny. Now every handsets in India are in House Brand Only. The majority of the mobile sales are in house brands only. Lyf Handsets are not only sold through Reliance Stores, they are being sold through other well established mobile outlets also in every circle. Rjio’s main concentration is to attract the lower end consumers. They never bother about the higher end because they are not reliable to any network operators. They dont worry about the consumers who prefer iphone and other premium phone rather they want the other sector of consumers to bu their product. Reliance GSM’s success… Read more »

Brother, Try to understand that marketing a telecom product is different from marketing a bath soap. Rjio has invested crores of money. They have to take it back in short term. Rjio knows well that selling only sim card will reap earn much income to the company. They want to offer something to boost the sales. Have we not seen Nescafe and Bru providing recharge offers to the public. Are they fool to provide such offers. The Mere Rs.20 or Rs.30 or Rs. 50 recharge value they provide with their coffee and tea packs will not push the company to… Read more »
