Realme 5 has now been spotted on benchmarking portal, Geekbench with the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 chipset on board. It seems like the Realme 5 will feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset like the Realme 2. Realme may be planning to go with Snapdragon chipset for every alternate Realme series phone. The Realme 1 and Realme 3 featured MediaTek chipsets, whereas the Realme 2 had the Snapdragon 450 chipset. The upcoming Realme 5 seems to be coming with the Snapdragon 665 chipset, which is the same processor we first saw on the Xiaomi Mi A3. If this benchmark listing holds true, then the Realme 5 will be the first handset to come with Snapdragon 665 SoC beating the Mi A3 that is scheduled to launch on August 21, a day after the Realme 5 series.
Realme 5 Likely to Feature Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 Chipset
Going by the Geekbench benchmark listing, the Realme 5 will bear a model number- RMX1911. Notably, the same model number was found on Thailand's NBTC certification website and the document also had Realme 5 moniker. Combining the two reports, we can believe that the RMX1911 is indeed the Realme 5. Talking about the specs, the Realme 5 will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 SoC which is an incremental upgrade over the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 chip. The listing reveals the Realme 5 will have 4GB of RAM, but we may see the phone launching in other RAM variants as well.
The Xiaomi Mi A3 is also powered by the same chipset as the Realme 5. It will be interesting to see how Realme prices Realme 5 since it's one of the most popular series in the company's portfolio. It was the Realme 1 which brought the company into the limelight with its powerful specs at an affordable price.
Realme 5 to Take on Xiaomi Mi A3 in India
The Realme 5 series launch is scheduled to happen on August 20 and the Mi A3 will be coming on August 21. Realme officially confirmed that the Realme 5 and Realme 5 Pro would feature quad rear cameras. The Realme 5 Pro will be the first phone to feature 48MP Sony IMX586 quad camera setup on the back. The Realme 5 will also feature quad cameras on the back, but we may not see a 48MP sensor.
The Xiaomi Mi A3 is an Android One smartphone coming out on August 21 and it will offer triple rear cameras. The biggest disadvantage for the Mi A3 is the HD+ display, but thankfully, the company has added an in-display fingerprint scanner. The Mi A3 has the 48MP Sony IMX586 sensor, 8MP ultra-wide lens and a 2MP depth sensor. The Realme 5 will pack four rear cameras, but the camera performance may not be as good as the ones present on the Mi A3. The Realme 5 Pro will take on the Mi A3 with its quad cameras, but the hardware on the Realme 5 will be similar to the Mi A3, going by this Geekbench listing.
