Already, Google announced the next iteration of its mobile OS - Android 12. The company is anticipated to roll out the stable version of this OS sometime in September. Also, Android OEMs are speculated to launch their custom mobile OS that will be based on Android 12 in the coming months. One of the first companies to do this is Oppo as it is gearing up to announce its latest custom skin - ColorOS 12.
Oppo ColorOS 12 Launch Details
Today, the Chinese manufacturer has confirmed that ColorOS 12, the latest version of will be unveiled in the company’s home market sometime later this month. To be specific, we can expect it to see the light of the day between mid to late September. However, there is no clarity regarding the exact launch date of ColorOS 12.
As we are just a week ahead of this speculated time frame and many major launches including that of the Apple iPhone 13 series are set to happen in the middle of this month, we can expect Oppo to launch ColorOS 12 towards the end of September. Before the ColorOS 12 is unveiled, the stable version of Android 12 will be out for users. We say so as ColorOS 11 was launched soon after the stable version of Android 11 was announced.
Oppo ColorOS: What To Expect?
When it comes to what we can expect from Oppo ColorOS 12, the custom skin is expected to come with a new feature dubbed Cross-Screen Interconnection. This is something similar to the Huawei Multi-Screen Collaboration. Also, it is tipped that the company will borrow new features from other Chinese Android skins including MIUI, HydrogenOS, Smartisan OS and Flyme.
As Realme and OnePlus are kins of Oppo, the ColorOS 12 is expected to make its way to their offerings as well in the future. For now, OnePlus smartphones in China will run ColorOS while international variants will run OxygenOS. On the other hand, Realme UI is a tweaked variant of ColorOS. We will get to know more details about ColorOS 12 as it starts rolling out to eligible devices later this month or early in October.
