Ooredoo Qatar has completed the trial of Wi-Fi 7 technology. The trial was completed on Fibre-To-The-Room (FTTR) devices for the first time in the region, with plans to roll out this technology commercially in 2024. Ooredoo Qatar said the trial is in line with its support for innovation, from pioneering the deployment of 5G and 50GPON connectivity to introducing solutions like FTTR.

Benefits of Wi-Fi 7 Technology
Ooredoo highlighted that Wi-Fi 7 promises to quadruple (4x) Wi-Fi speeds, extend coverage, and reduce latency, supporting high-demand applications such as 8K video streaming, augmented and virtual reality, and high-definition gaming. Beyond home use, Wi-Fi 7 technology is expected to drive innovation across industrial sectors, including telemedicine, cloud computing, and industrial IoT.

Commercial Launch
Ooredoo said the initial commercial launch of Wi-Fi 7 will be with Ooredoo's FTTR solution, designed to enhance connectivity across larger homes. Ooredoo Qatar delivers mobile, fixed, broadband internet, and corporate-managed services tailored to the needs of consumers and businesses.
