There will be some major smartphone announcements this month. Brands such as Samsung, HMD Global, LG have already set the launch dates for their flagship phone unveiling. Samsung will be launching the Galaxy Note 8 on August 23, while LG has the launch date of the V30 set for August 30. HMD Global will unveil its flagship phone on August 16, which is heavily expected to be Nokia 8.
The Nokia 8 has already spotted on several benchmark sites such as GFXBench, AnTuTu, and Geekbench. Today, the smartphone has again made an appearance in Geekbench benchmarking site. However, this listing is slightly different and exciting as well for Android fans.
The Nokia 8 spotted in the listing was running Android O at the time of benchmarking, which means that it could be the first non-Google phone to run Android O out-of-the-box. Yesterday, a report suggested that Google is looking to roll out the final build of Android O as early as next week for Google Pixel and Nexus devices.
This could mean that the Nokia 8 could run Android O even at the launch event as well. However, the Nokia 8 is rumoured to go on sale only by the end of September, or even a later date is also not surprising, considering how HMD struggled to make the Nokia 3, Nokia 5, and Nokia 6 available globally.
Further, HMD promised that all the Nokia devices will run the latest OS and will receive faster software updates than any other smartphone.
As seen with earlier rumours, the Nokia 8 will be powered by the Snapdragon 835 chipset, paired with 4GB of RAM. The device achieved a single core Geekbench score of 1789 and multi-core score of 6494.
The Nokia 8 will be the first smartphone from the house of HMD to sport dual cameras at the back. Yes, the Nokia 8 is slated to feature two 12MP sensors at the back, and the lens will be powered by Zeiss. The phone is claimed to have a 5.3-inch QHD display, and a 3700mAh battery. The Nokia 8 could be priced at Euro 520 (approx. Rs. 39,000) and will launch in India at a later date.
