HMD Global is finally bringing Android 9 Pie update to the premium looking Nokia 8 Sirocco, the company announced on Wednesday. The announcement of Android 9 Pie coming to Nokia 8 Sirocco was made by none other than Cheif product officer of HMD Global, Juho Sarvikas. In the post via which Juho announced the Android 9 Pie rollout for Nokia 8 Sirocco read, " Here's to the latest member of the Android 9 Pie family. Welcome, Nokia 8 Sirocco!" Android 9 Pie Comes to Nokia 8 Sirocco: What's New?

Last month HMD Global started pushing out Android 9 Pie update to the recently announced Nokia 5.1 Plus -- which was launched running on Android 8.1 Oreo software. With the coming of Android 9 Pie, the Nokia 5.1 Plus users got the taste of all the key features of the software like adaptive battery, app actions, app timer, adaptive brightness, slices, accessibility menu, easier text selection, new screenshot shortcut, new home button, new gesture navigation, among others.

Now that Android 9 Pie is coming to Nokia 8 Sirocco all these features will also come to this high-end Nokia phone. The Pie update also brings Android security patch update for the month of December 2018 which means users can expect some bug fixes and some improvements to the Nokia 8 Sirocco. It is important to note that the software may roll out to the users in a phased manner, which otherwise mean that if you haven't received the update yet you might need to wait for sometime before it hits your Nokia phone.

Ensure to recharge your phone and backup all your data before downloading and installing the update. To check for the update head to the Setting tab, About Phone and then to System Updates option.

HMD Global Now Has Eight Smartphones Running Android 9 Pie

With the rollout of Android 9 Pie to Nokia 8 Sirocco, HMD Global now has a total of eight smartphones running the latest iteration of Android. The company started the rollout with Nokia 7 Plus back in September 2018, followed by Nokia 6.1 and Nokia 6.1 Plus. Later on, it launched the Nokia 7.1 and Nokia 8.1 in India with Android 9 Pie out of the box. Late in December, it pushed the Android 9 Pie update to Nokia 5.1 Plus and Nokia 8, which is now followed by Nokia 8 Sirocco.

That said, all the major Nokia smartphones launched in 2018 received the Android 9 Pie update, except for some entry-level and mid-range phones like the Nokia 5.1, Nokia 3.1 Plus, Nokia 3.1 and others. Hopefully, they'll also receive the update very soon. In other news, HMD Global is gearing up for the launch of Nokia 9 flagship smartphone with five rear cameras later this month.
