The UK's wholesale full-fibre network venture, nexfibre, has released its latest quarterly update on its nationwide rollout plan. The report highlights that nexfibre now has just under 1.3 million premises passed and ready for service (RFS), up from 986,000 in the previous quarter.

Network Expansion Progress
The report also outlines new build locations for 2025 and early 2026, focusing on expanding its network in previously underserved areas of North Wales and Scotland. nexfibre said the expansion will benefit towns across the UK, including Eastbourne, Weymouth, Nantwich, and Shropshire, with a strong emphasis on North Wales.
Goal for 5 Million Premises by 2026
The fibre operator is advancing towards its goal of reaching 5 million premises across the UK by 2026. At the current rate, the business is set to deliver its network to more premises than any other fibre provider in 2024, except for the incumbent, making it the UK’s second-largest network provider in only its second year of operations, the official release said.

Rajiv Datta, CEO of nexfibre, attributed the rapid progress to the dedication of the team, partners like Virgin Media O2, and investors. "We have exciting plans for 2025 and into 2026, which are part of our commitment to providing a nationwide alternative network and the competition in the fibre access market that the UK needs and deserves," he added.

nexfibre Joint Venture
nexfibre is a joint venture between InfraVia Capital Partners, Liberty Global, and Telefonica, financed with GBP 4.5 billion of equity and debt investment. Virgin Media O2 is nexfibre's anchor wholesale tenant.
