Google had initially unveiled its Pixel premium phones last year to take on the big names in the smartphone market like Apple’s iPhone 7 and Samsung’s Galaxy S7. With the inception of the Pixel series, the tech giant has offered a sophisticated lineup of features packaged in an affordable price. So it comes as no surprise when a new leak surfaced today that the Google Pixel 2 will be launched very soon.
According to the reputed leaker Evan Blass, Google is looking at October 5, 2017, launch date for its much-anticipated second generation Pixel smartphone. In addition to this possible launch date of the device, the tweet also mentioned that the Google Pixel 2 is very likely to be powered by the all-new Snapdragon 836 processor under the hood. If this claim is true, then the Pixel 2 would be the first device to debut with this particular Qualcomm chipset.
The Snapdragon 836 processor is expected to be an improved and slightly tweaked version of the current Snapdragon 835 SoC, seen in premium smartphones this year such as the OnePlus 5 and the Xiaomi Mi 6. If last year was any indication, there will be two Pixel devices this year as well – one smaller while the other one features a bigger build and display.
The original Pixel phone was an instant hit with the users, essentially because of its camera and here’s to hoping that Google will continue to push the envelope in the imaging department with its Pixel 2 devices.
This is just the latest addition to a slew of already brewing rumours about the upcoming Google Pixel 2. So far, these rumours include claims that the Pixel 2 will sport a design like no other flagship smartphone in the market and others speculating that the handset will probably come sans the headphone jack, which is quite an iPhone-esque move.
However, all these are simply speculations and rumours, so we suggest you take this information with a grain of salt. Having said that, Evan Blass has been accurate with his leaks so far and we hope to see the launch of the new Google Pixel 2 handset within the next two months.
