Meizu, the Chinese OEM is working on launching its next generation flagship these days. The Meizu MX5 will be the name of its next flagship and the smartphone has just had its specs leaked on to the interweb through the GFX benchmark. The smartphone is expected to launch in China on June 30th post which it will see a global roll out.
The leaked specs of the device showcase that it will come with a 5.5-inch display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. It will run Android 5.0.1 Lollipop with FlymeOS on top of it. It will get a MediaTek MT6795T Helio X10 chipset with a 2.1GHz octa-core CPU and a PowerVR G6200 GPU. There will be 3GB of RAM to go with it. The newly announced Helio family of premium chipsets from MediaTek is meant to take on its Qualcomm Snapdragon counterparts even on the performance frontier and not just cost. So you can safely expect the Meizu MX5 to be quite a strong performer.
There will be a 20MP camera at the rear (the benchmark reports the specs slightly less) and it will be supported by a 5MP camera up front. The internal storage capacity will stand at 16GB which will be available for expansion by another 128GB. It will have a 3,150mAh battery. The smartphone will come with a metal casing and will cost around the $300 (roughly Rs 20,000) mark. Meizu has commenced its Indian operations already and it will be interesting to see if the Meizu MX5 launches in India.
