Lumos, a provider of 100 percent Fiber-Optic Internet and Total Home Wi-Fi services, marked a significant milestone with the launch of its high-speed internet service in Burlington, North Carolina. The company celebrated the occasion with a ribbon-cutting ceremony held near the Burlington Athletic Stadium, signifying its commitment to bringing reliable connectivity to the community.

Enhancing Digital Experiences in Burlington
As the first fibre-optic internet provider for many in the area, Lumos said it aims to revolutionize the digital experiences of Burlington residents and small businesses.
Brian Stading, CEO of Lumos, expressed his excitement about the launch, stating, "We are thrilled to launch our 100 percent Fiber Optic Internet service to the vibrant City of Burlington and its surrounding communities. Recognition from the White House and Governor
The event received notable recognition from the White House, with Asad Ramzanali, Chief of Staff for the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, attending and speaking as part of the Biden Administration's "Investing in America" tour.
Ramzanali highlighted Lumos' investment in expanding internet access, stating, "President Biden understands that high-speed internet is a necessity to work, learn, and play in Today's digital landscape."
The collaboration between Lumos and the White House aligns with the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law signed by President Biden, which allocates USD 65 billion for high-speed internet access and affordability.

In June 2023, the US Department of Commerce awarded NC nearly USD 1.5 billion for high-speed internet infrastructure in BEAD funds. These funds include support for programs like the Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) program and the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP).
Commitment to Bridging the Digital Divide
Lumos said it is committed to bridging the digital divide and has announced plans to invest USD 750 million over the next five years to bring fibre internet to millions of homes. The company said it has recently expanded into various markets, including Johnston, Harnett, New Hanover County, North Carolina, as well as Spartanburg and Richland County, South Carolina.
