The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India has directed Loop Mobile to inform its subscribers about the closure of its services in Mumbai area, either in writing, SMS or email. This notice needs to be sent within 10 days. Besides this, Loop Mobile is also directed to furnish the compliance report with regard to the direction within 15 days of the issue of this direction.
Loop Mobile's license expires in November 2014, and it had decided that it will not review its license to continue the service. In June, Airtel signed a definitive agreement with Loop Mobile to acquire its assets for a rumoured Rs 700 crore. However, DoT has not approved the acquisition as it believes that the government tends to lose a lot of money due to this deal. For more on this, read our previous coverage here.
We advice Loop Mobile's subscribers to port out to any other network as soon as possible.
