LG’s Upcoming Flagship Device Leaked in Concept Renders With an iPhone X-Like Notch

The road isn't easy for LG in 2018, but the company sounded like it has no hopes in the smartphone business anymore. Today, LG's upcoming device, the LG G7 or the LG Judy leaked in concept renders, giving a hint at how the official product will look like. And guess what, LG is going after the infamous notch we saw in the iPhone X, and it will be adding the same to its upcoming device. Rumour mill says that LG has showcased the LG Judy smartphone to a limited number of media at the MWC 2018 event, and unfortunately for the company, a hands-on video of the device got leaked. That said, these concept renders are based on the same design leak and Evan Blass, the popular tipster also confirmed that it's the final product design of LG's upcoming device. So there you go, this is how the LG Judy could look like:

Techno Buffalo and Ben Geskin (a popular designer) worked together to create these concept renders. And trust me, at first glance, they looked like the official renders from LG. As you can see from the images, LG is going to include the notch above the display, and the front will be dominated by the edge-to-edge display with a small chin. The notch will house the front-facing camera and other sensors as you have expected. LG is rumoured to be working on a new IRIS scanning technology, and the sensors could well be placed inside the notch itself.

And LG will be optimising the software to offer more screen real estate to the users. LG is said to add the notification bar to the left and right of the notch, like Apple and Essential. And to the back, we have the same LG V30 design- dual cameras, sensors, LED flash, fingerprint scanner which also dubs as the power button (yes, LG isn't changing that yet and rightly so), and LG branding to the bottom.

The rear side of the phone is not getting much of overhaul, but that front is something which will turn a lot of heads. LG is known for launching some of the best-designed smartphones in the past, but it seems like LG is looking to follow the trend, rather than wasting the time in innovating something else.

As Asus said, the notch is the best way to increase the screen-to-body ratio, LG might be thinking the same way. But in the process, the company is forgetting that it's copying one of the worst features of the expensive smartphone of all time.

Specs-wise, the LG Judy will feature Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset, 6.01-inch QHD+ display with 19:9 aspect ratio thanks to the notch, up to 6 gigs of RAM and 256GB of storage, dual camera setup at the back, advanced facial recognition and Android Oreo out of the box.

The phone will be released sometime in June 2018, but it would be too late for the South Korean company as its counterpart Samsung will be gearing up for the Galaxy Note 8 release by then.
