The official launch of the Samsung’s upcoming flagship devices, the Samsung Galaxy S9 and the Galaxy S9+ is a few months away, but leaks and rumours have already begun surfacing. The Galaxy S9, S9+ is expected to feature a screen to body ratio that will come close to 90% as Samsung looks to significantly reduce top and bottom bezels.
A series of renders created by Samsungmobile.News now present a more accurate picture of what Galaxy S9, S9+ will look like. This year’s Galaxy S8 and S8+ featured a fingerprint scanner right next to the camera module. For 2018 flagships, Samsung apparently has placed the fingerprint scanner right below the single lens camera in Galaxy S9 and under the dual-lens camera configuration on the Galaxy S9+.
The renders also reveal a new Edge to Edge Infinity Display that appears with even thinner bezels as predicted. Samsung’s new line of Galaxy S9, S9+ are coming in colour options of Midnight Black, Silver Titanium, Orchid Gray, Ocean Blue and Maple Blue as per the leak.
The site has also revealed the expected specifications of both the devices which will come with exact same specs except for display sizes and cameras. The Galaxy S9 will sport a 5.8-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED display while the S9+ will get a 6.2-inch version.
Both the devices will be powered by recently announced Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor in the US market, and Samsung’s Exynos 9810 for the international version. The processors will be coupled with 4GB/6GB RAM and number of storage options.
The renders suggest that Galaxy S9 may not feature the much-touted in-display fingerprint scanner. Renowned tipster Evan Blass has said that Samsung will likely avoid a major redesign shift for its Galaxy S9, S9+ models. However, Synaptics just unveiled the world’s first in-display fingerprint scanner which they hinted will be used on a handset made by a ‘Top 5 smartphone manufacturer’. Whether the new Samsung flagships may employ this or not only time will tell.
Samsung’s Galaxy S9 and S9+ are expected to launch around the 2018 MWC trade show in Barcelona, which opens February 26, 2018. Earlier, this devices were rumoured to launch at the CES 2018 event in January.
