JioPhone 2 With 4G VoLTE and LTE Cat.4 Modem Launched at Rs 2,999

Reliance Jio has unveiled an upgraded version of the JioPhone, which the company sold over 25 million units in less than one year. The JioPhone 2 is also priced aggressively at Rs 2,999 and the company even announced a Monsoon Hungama offer, under which a user can get the new JioPhone 1 at just Rs 501. The JioPhone 2 sports a Qwerty keypad, 4G LTE, VoLTE, VoWi-Fi support and runs the KaiOS, same as the JioPhone. This new model comes with support for LTE Cat.4, which enables download speed of 150 Mbps on Jio 4G network. Also, it's a dual-SIM feature phone allowing users to make use of other network carriers on the second SIM slot.

JioPhone 2 Specifications and Features
The JioPhone 2 has a 2.4-inch QVGA display on the front along with a Qwerty keypad and 4-way navigation key. There's a voice calling button and a call disconnection button as well. The famous voice command button is also present in the middle on the keypad. Jio stated that the JioPhone users issued more than 20 crore voice commands every month.

The JioPhone 2 is a dual-SIM handset with the first SIM card having support for 4G on LTE Band 3, 5, 40 and the secondary SIM card having support for 2G on 900/1800 Bands. This feature phone comes with LTE Cat.4 modem with a promise of 150 Mbps download speeds and up to 50 Mbps of upload speeds.

Jio did not reveal the processor used on this device but confirmed that it would have 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage. A microSD card slot is also present on the device for storage expansion up to 128GB. Cameras on the JioPhone 2 include a 2MP shooter on the rear and a VGA camera on the front. As mentioned, the phone runs on KaiOS operating system, and the company even rolled out the support of WhatsApp, YouTube and Facebook today. JioPhone 2 can download WhatsApp from the app store.

The JioPhone 2 comes with a single mono loudspeaker and comes with connectivity options such as FM, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS and NFC.

JioPhone 2 Pricing and Monsoon Offer Details
The Reliance JioPhone 2 will be available for purchase at Rs 2,999 starting August 15. Alongside the JioPhone 2, the company has rolled out a 'Monsoon Hungama' offer, under which a user can exchange their current feature phone and pick up the original JioPhone at just Rs 501. This offer is also valid from July 21. Jio is yet to reveal the complete details of the Monsoon Hungama offer, so stay tuned for the fine print, which will have some catches. Lastly, Jio will not be discontinuing the JioPhone as it will be selling both the JioPhone and JioPhone 2 going forward.
