Homegrown smartphone brand, Intex has launched a new smartphone under its Aqua series called as Intex Aqua A4. The company is touting the phone as the cheapest smartphone to run Android 7.0 Nougat. The device is priced at Rs. 4199 and will be up for sale in coming days.

The Aqua A4 has a 4-inch WVGA display with a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels. At the heart of the phone is a 1.3GHz quad-core chipset, paired with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage. The storage in the phone can be expanded up to 64GB via a microSD card.

Intex has added a 5MP primary camera on the back, along with a 2MP front-facing snapper. It comes with connectivity options such as 4G LTE, VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and micro USB port. A 1750mAh battery backs the entire package. The phone weighs 147 grams and will be sold offline in only one colour - black.

As said earlier, the highlight of the Intex Aqua A4 is the presence of Android 7.0 Nougat. All the features of the latest OS are present in the phone such as split-screen multitasking, advanced Doze mode, quick app switcher, etc. However, the multi-window feature may not be as productive as it can be because the device has a smaller 4-inch screen.

Commenting on the launch of Aqua A4, Nidhi Markanday, director of Intex Technologies said, “With the launch of Aqua A4, powered with the latest Android at the lowest price, Intex has again brought tech innovative product at the most affordable price in the market for all. Gujarat Lions players graced the occasion with their presence and reiterated our connect with the youth. We are sure that Aqua A4 with high specs like Android 7.0, classy looks and high performance at the lowest price will delight our customers.”

Also, the device comes bundled with Xender, which is a file transfer application touted to move a GB file in under two minutes. There’s an inbuilt QR code scanner feature, which scans a QR code and shows relevant information accordingly.

With the Intex Aqua A4, the company is looking to take on the recently entered Chinese brands such as iVoomi, Lephone which are aggressively expanding their product lineup in the sub Rs. 5000 price bracket.
