Idea Cellular Launches Rs 295 Recharge to Take On Airtel’s Rs 299 Prepaid Plan

Idea Cellular has silently introduced a new prepaid recharge of Rs 295 offering benefits for 42 days, which takes on the Rs 299 prepaid recharge of Airtel. The Aditya Birla Group-owned telco is offering all the three benefits- voice calls, SMS and data for a period of 42 days, unlike Airtel which is providing just voice calls with its Rs 299 prepaid plan. That being said, Idea Cellular is limiting the voice calls on a daily/weekly basis. On the flip side, Airtel is giving unlimited voice calling benefit without any FUP limit with its prepaid plan.

Moving onto other benefits, Idea Cellular is giving other benefits such as 100 SMS per day and 5GB of 2G/3G/4G data for the entire validity period of 42 days. Talking about the voice calling benefit, customers using more than 250 minutes of outgoing minutes (local+STD+national roaming) in a day will be charged at 1p/sec after consumption of 250 minutes for the rest of the day till midnight.

In addition, customers using more than 1000 minutes in any period of seven consecutive days will be charged at 1p/sec for the rest of the seven days period. Lastly, Idea prepaid customers recharging with the Rs 295 plan and calling more than 100 unique numbers in any period of seven consecutive days will be charged at 1p/sec (local+STD) after 100 unique numbers, for the rest of validity of recharge.

As mentioned above, this plan will give the user only 5GB of data, and after the limit, users will be charged at 4p/10KB. Very recently, leading telecom operator Bharti Airtel also introduced a prepaid recharge plan of Rs 299, under which it’s giving just unlimited calling benefit without any FUP limit for 45 days.

Idea’s plan is introduced to take on the same plan from Airtel, but at the same time, the telco is making up for the voice calling limit on the network by providing SMS and data benefits as well. Also, this new plan joins the company’s Rs 595 prepaid plan which it introduced very recently. The Rs 595 plan from Idea offers benefits of unlimited voice calls, 100 SMS per day and 10GB of data for 112 days. And the Rs 295 plan comes with benefits for 42 days and is valid across the company’s 4G circles.

Vodafone Tamilnadu SIM is logging into idea 2G karnataka but not within Tamilnadu.

Idea Tamilnadu SIM is logging only into vodafone 2G in karnataka. Not in 3G. But in TN, it is not logging into any network type of vodafone.

Yes, within home circles in Cities it is still not happening. Looks like this will take more time than usual due to vast network length and breadth across country and they do not want to disturb each other customers in cities at one go and will go slow…

Airtel payment bank has been fishy from day one IMO. airtel itself is fishy sometimes.

Just couple of days ago Airtel back-end called me asking for my UPC saying they can port me without any documents since they have my info from the broadband team. I had only asked whether I had wanted or asked to port?

On asking them who forwarded the port info to you, they started evasive replies.

Something is wrong with Airtel. Good network or not, I have zero confidence in this company for cellular services.

TBH all telcos appear to fish each others info…. The only ones I’ve observed not to do this to this extent are BSNL and Vodafone.
