Broadband WiFi Problems

If you are facing interruptions in your Wi-Fi performance, then you need to know how to stabilise the same to achieve the best possible connection. There are a few Wi-Fi troubleshooting techniques that will be helpful, especially at times when getting a technician could be heavily taxing. Before you start tinkering with the router, ensure that you run speed tests on your Wi-Fi network.

How to Solve Fluctuation Broadband Wi-Fi Problem

Check out the tips to stabilise your Wi-Fi connection from here.

Restart the router: Firstly, the classic method to fix any electronics is to restart it. The foremost suggestion is to restart your router and initiate the setup process. This will disconnect the router from the devices and the network and reconnect. This will prevent your router marginally from slowing down due to years of operation.

Move the router: Solid concrete walls, wooden furniture and ceilings will affect the Wi-Fi connection or block it completely. Based on the floor plan, you need to position the router to experience a difference.

Hardwire everything that needs Ethernet: Usually, excessive loads on the Wi-Fi network will result in poor or low connectivity. So, hardwire your devices such as smart TV or desktop that can work on Ethernet to eliminate congestion on the network.

Enable dual-band support: If your router supports dual-band connectivity, then make sure to turn it on to get higher Wi-Fi speeds. This way, more devices can connect to the 5 GHz bands and offer the best Wi-Fi connection.

Remove unwanted Wi-Fi devices: There could be some unwanted guests or intruders. These unauthorised devices will enter your network when there is no security. So, make sure no one is hogging the bandwidth of your network. This can be done by using a strong password that cannot be broken.

Use extenders: If you live in multi-storied buildings and very large apartment spaces, then a single Wi-Fi router will not be enough. In this case, you can get one or multiple Wi-Fi range extenders from the same brand to get a good Wi-Fi speed and reception and improve its bandwidth.

Update the router’s firmware: Modern routers come with easy customisation options with an easy-to-understand user interface. You can update the firmware of the router to make sure it has all the new features and ensures superior connectivity as compared to dated routers. If this does not work, then you need to upgrade the router itself.

Check support for latest standards: To have a continued experience, you need to make sure both ends are tied up without any issue. You should check if the router and clients are communicating on the latest standards or not. Currently, there are new technologies such as Wi-Fi 6 and Wi-Fi 6E that deliver Gigabit speeds. So, run performance tests to confirm the Wi-Fi performance.

Contact your ISP: If none of these techniques work, you need to contact the ISP. Raise a complaint with the customer care and you will be sent an authorised technician to troubleshoot the network.
