After announcing the LG Nexus 5X and the Huawei Nexus 6P at the Google Nexus 2015 event today, the company also pulled off a surprise. Google announced a brand new tablet that is not a part of its Nexus lineup of mobile devices. Instead, as the name suggest, the Google Pixel C is placed in the Pixel lineup of devices which are wholly designed and sold by the search giant.

The Google Pixel C features a 10.2-inch IPS LCD display with a resolution of 2560 x 1800 pixels, resulting in a pixel density of 302 ppi, and the company claims that it has a brightness of 500 nits. The device will come pre-installed with Android 6.0 Marshmallow, similar to the Nexus 5X and the Nexus 6P. It is powered by the ultra-powerful Nvidia Tegra X1 processor, 3GB RAM, 32GB or 64GB of internal storage space, and a detachable keyboard cover. Google said that the letter 'C' in the device's name stands for convertible, and that they are targeting productivity-oriented consumers with the Pixel C.
The keyboard cover is magnetically aligned and attached with the Pixel C in a way that you can hold the device any which way you want, and the keyboard cover or the tablet won't get separated easily. Also, the keyboard, which connects to the tablet using Bluetooth, is wirelessly charged through the tablet. Even if a user doesn't charge the keyboard, it can be used for a month't time before it gets discharged completely. Moreover, the display has a squarer 1:?2 aspect ratio that is good for productivity as well as allows for a better keyboard layout.
Details regarding the device's cameras and battery capacity are still a mystery. The company said that it is till working on the device, and they just wanted to show us a sneak-peek of the device, and more details about the Pixel C will be revealed in the coming months. The Google Pixel C will be released sometime early next year, and it targets devices like the Apple iPad Pro and the Microsoft Surface 3. The 32GB variant of the tablet will be priced at $499, while the 64GB variant will be priced at $599, and the keyboard accessory will be sold for $149.
