Gionee has unveiled its latest flagship smartphone, known as the Elife S7, at the MWC 2015. It is the successor to the Elife S5.5 and Elife S5.1. The device is integrated in an aluminum magnesium alloy unibody design and will be available in India from April 3 onwards. It is priced at 399 Euros, which is roughly Rs 27,800. After facing stiff competition from Oppo R5 and Vivo X5MAx, in the battle of being the slimmest, this time Gionee has made a sound decision to stay with its usual 5.5mm thickness.
Gionee Elife S7 features a 5.2-inch Super AMOLED full HD display and is powered by a 1.7GHz octa-core 64-bit MediaTek processor coupled with 2GB of RAM. It is the first device by Gionee to run Android 5.0 Lollipop out-of-the-box along with Gionee’s in-house Amigo 3.0 UI on top. The phone has non-expandable 16GB of internal storage and supports connectivity options such as 2G/3G/4G LTE, Wi-fi, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS and Hi-Fi audio.
It sports a 13-megapixel rear camera, which is integrated with Gionee’s new image processing system that enable the camera to click around 6 images per second. There is also an 8-megapixel front camera. The Elife S7 is backed by a 2,750 mAh non-removable battery. The device will be available in White, Black, Blue and Pink colors and will be launched in India on April 3rd.
According to Arvind Vohra, the country CEO and MD of Gionee Smartphones, “the response to Elife S5.5 and Elife S5.1 was impressive and the company is expecting huge sales of the Elife S7 as well. The company has managed to sell over 4 million handsets in two years and aims to be in the top 5 smartphone players in the country by the end of the next fiscal year. All future E and S series Gionee smartphones would be 4G LTE compatible,” he said.
