After Fossil’s first smartwatch Q-Founder, the watchmaker has plans to release two more models later this year!
First, we have Q Wander, a smartwatch with case measurement 44mm, compared to the 46mm of Q Founder. Q Wander features a soft curving, multi-finish case with new wire lugs, giving it a beautiful slimmer look. The watch comes with an interchangeable leather strap so that you can swap it with a different one of your choice.
Next, we have Q Marshal, featuring a 46mm circular rugged case. The watch will also come with a design variation – a navy blue plated case paired with a leather strap. Both the smartwatches bring along Q Founder’s DNA that they share similar features. They are powered with Android Wear, Google’s smartwatch platform. They are compatible with both Android and iOS smartphones. The charging of the devices is via a new slim wireless charger, a good reason to grab them.
About their functions, the users can make calls, send text messages, get notification alerts, respond to messages via voice command etc. As integrated with a Google’s OS, the devices can also provide information on flights with timely reminders using Google Now cards. To mention a shortcoming, the watches do not integrate optical heart-rate sensor, a common feature found in most smartwatches from companies such as Apple and Samsung.
Pricing on both models will start at $275 like the Q Founder. Fossil doesn't have a precise launch date, but it is expected to release by this summer. Meanwhile, the company has also announced an activity tracker - Q Motion. Besides tracking activities, the device notifies users of calls and texts haptic vibrations and multi-color LED lights. The tracker also includes smart tap technology, using which users can play their music, find their handsets or take selfie images.
The coin cell batteries charge Q Motion, which would deliver a usage time of up to six months. It is water resistant as well, for immersion up to 50 metres.
