Digi Spain has officially activated VoLTE (Voice-over-LTE) and VoWiFi services after an initial trial restricted to thousands of customers. The telco first announced the service last year and then paused the rollout to focus on the launch of 5G services in Spain. According to local media reports, Digi began testing the VoLTE service on selected customer phones in May.

Introduction of VoLTE and VoWiFi
With this week’s official announcement, all Digi Spain customers can now enjoy high-quality voice services via the new VoLTE and VoWiFi services. All mobile customers with a compatible handset on contracted plans can start enjoying VoLTE and VoWiFi calls.
VoLTE allows users to make and receive calls, as well as send SMS, over the 4G (LTE) or 5G network instead of conventional 2G or 3G networks, the company said. While VoWiFi allows users to make calls through a Wi-Fi network in areas with limited or no mobile network coverage.
Advantages of VoLTE and VoWiFi
Digi Spain highlighted the advantages of VoLTE calls, including better quality, faster connections, simultaneous use of data and voice, improved coverage, and no additional costs. Similarly, VoWiFi calls offer advantages such as enhanced voice quality, increased coverage, and no additional costs.
