Coolpad has unveiled its latest smartphone in the Indian market, the Coolpad Note 8 as a successor to the company's Coolpad Note 6 handset that was unveiled back in May this year. Coolpad confirmed that its latest entrant, the Note 8 will be exclusive to Paytm in the country. Notably, the Coolpad Note 6 was unveiled as an offline-only smartphone. Coolpad already lost its plot in the country and the Note 8 will not help the company either as it sports mediocre specifications in the heavily competitive sub Rs 10,000 price point. Key specifications of the Coolpad Note 8 include MediaTek MT6750 chipset, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of internal storage, dual rear cameras and a beefy 4000mAh battery.

Coolpad Note 8: Specifications and Features

Talking about the specifications of the Coolpad Note 8, the phone flaunts a 5.99-inch Full HD+ display on the front and it carries a resolution of 2160 x 1080 pixels, 18:9 aspect ratio. Under the hood, the phone has the MediaTek MT6750 chipset, which feels dated in 2018. The chipset works in tandem with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, which can be expanded up to 128GB with a microSD card slot.

As for the design, the Note 8 is constructed out of plastic, but Coolpad has added a glossy finish to the rear side. The phone comes in a single Black colour option. The phone offers connectivity options such as 4G LTE, VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth, GPS and a Micro USB port. It runs Android 8.0 Oreo-based JupiterUI out of the box.

Moving onto the cameras, the Coolpad Note 8 has a 16MP shooter on the rear side, but as mentioned above, there are two cameras on the back with the second one being a 0.3MP depth sensor. The smartphone has a 16MP shooter on the front. Lastly, Coolpad has armed device with a 4000mAh battery, and as seen with many budget smartphones, the Note 8 lacks fast charging support. The fingerprint scanner is placed on the rear side and there's software-based Face Unlock functionality.

Coolpad Note 8: Pricing and Availability in India

Coolpad has priced the device at Rs 9,999 in India, and the phone will be exclusive to the e-commerce portal, Paytm. This is a different move from the company as most of the smartphone brands in the country partner with the likes of Flipkart and Amazon. The phone can be purchased in only a single Black colour option.

Coolpad Note 8 vs Coolpad Note 6: What's Different?

Coolpad did a decent job with the Note 6 in India as it offered the Snapdragon 435 chipset at the similar price of Rs 9,999. The Coolpad Note 6 arrived with a 5.5-inch 16:9 display with Full HD+ resolution. It has the Snapdragon 435 SoC underneath and arrived in 3GB/4GB RAM variants. The USP of the Coolpad Note 6 was the dual front-facing camera, which are not present on the Coolpad Note 8. The Note 6 also offered a bigger 4070mAh battery.

The Coolpad Note 8 is the same smartphone which was launched in China as the Coolpad Cool 2, albeit the company made some changes, but for the most part, the specifications remain similar. The Cool 2 also features MediaTek MT6750 SoC, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage.
