BSNL reduces free wifi offering at public hotspots to first 15 mins once a month

BSNL the largest PSU has cut down on the free wifi offering at its public hotspots to just first 15 mins once a month for one mobile number with immediate effect. Earlier the operator used to provide free usage of first 30 mins for up to 3 occasions in a month per mobile number.


The move by the operator is aimed at increasing the revenue from its public hotspots through the prepaid recharge coupons it retails. The details of the change in free offering is elaborated in the table below.

  • Small Wi-Fi Hotspot : Cafe, Lounge, Food court etc, – 2 Mbps(dedicated)
  • Mid Size Wi-Fi Hotspot : Malls, IT Parks, Resorts, Hospitals etc – 4 Mbps(dedicated)
  • Large Size Wi Fi Hotspot : Campus, Very Large Mall, Uncovered Broadband Semi Urban/Rural Areas – 10 Mbps(dedicated)

BSNL retails prepaid recharge coupons for time based unlimited data usage on its wifi hotspot network. The details of the current vouchers are as mentioned in the table above, with validity ranging from 20 days to 365 days.

Off topic– hello Esmail is reliance cdma struggles in rainy season recently i bought 2 cdma sim cards one for internet another for calls i was getting 200-300 KBps speed every time but in rainy season i’m getting only 20 to 60 KBps speed.. from 2 days i’m getting full signal and not able to call anyone or receive calls to confirm i called person where i bought sim cards and he told me yes there is network issues whenever rain comes.. don’t know how and why

Yep I am too using RCDMA for Data purposes in Huawei MTS EC315 unlocked Wi-Fi Dongle(no call support),yes there are issues during Rainy Season but now seems somewhat fixed(had the same problem like yours last month now seems solved) and for some rare times during mid night speeds are slow,so I keep on disconnecting and connecting again and again to get normal speeds.
