BSNL is on a revision spree in recent times. After revising the broadband plans priced above Rs 500, the Internet Service Provider has now made a revision to its entry-level BB249 broadband plan to offer higher FUP than earlier. The basic broadband plan now comes with 15GB of FUP, which is three times more than the FUP it offered earlier. BSNL has made this change silently and it will be effective from September 1 across the country. Apart from the data benefit, the plan did not receive any other changes. BSNL allows users to choose this plan in yearly rentals as well. In the past, the plan was offered on a promotional basis, but very recently, the company made it an open plan without any expiry.

BSNL Rs 249 Aka BB249 Broadband Plan Benefits

As mentioned, BSNL has made only one change to the plan right now. The telco has increased the FUP limit from 5GB to 15GB per month. So users can enjoy high-speed data at 8 Mbps until 15GB from the earlier 5GB. After 15GB, data speeds will be reduced to 1 Mbps and there's no limit for how much data you consume after consuming the FUP.

Alongside the data benefit, BSNL is offering unlimited voice calling with this broadband plan. The BB249 plan gives a user unlimited voice calls within BSNL network every day, while to other networks, the unlimited voice calling is applicable only between 10:30 PM to 6 AM daily. Furthermore, the BB249 plan is also eligible for voice calling on all Sundays to any network within India.

Other things to know about the BB249 broadband plan is the pan-India availability. Also, BSNL will be collecting Rs 500 security deposit at the time of installation, and even users are forced to choose the plan for a minimum period of one month.

BSNL Also Offers Yearly Rental Options on BB249 Plan

One of the best reasons to choose BSNL broadband service is the yearly rental facility. After changing the BB249 plan from promotional to normal, BSNL has started offering annual payment options. For example, customers can choose the Rs 249 broadband plan for one year at Rs 2,739, which means the company is charging for 11 months and giving one month for free. The same applies for two years and three years rental. BSNL will charge Rs 5,229 for two years of BB249 plan service and Rs 7,470 for three years, offering some discount to the users.

BSNL is Aggressively Revamping Broadband Plans

In Chennai telecom circles, BSNL has revised a lot of broadband plans. For example, the telco has recently revised the Rs 699 broadband plan in the city to offer 20 Mbps speeds and up to 700GB of FUP every month. In addition, the popular Rs 1,199 broadband plan in Chennai now gives a user speeds of 20 Mbps and monthly FUP of 1.1TB of 1100GB. BSNL is yet to make these changes in all the circles where it has operations. The BB249 plan revision will be effective from September 1, across all the circles.
