It is totally useless to bring any non AVOID number for data purpose in roaming. I made a journey via train from New Delhi to Varanasi yesterday and throughout UP W, I was on Tata Docomo Edge network. There were only few places where reliance’s own network was present. Thank god, I had 3G on Airtel throughout UP W. Yes, I was shocked! Train routes well decently covered by Airtel 3G. In UPE, sadly, my phone was not able to latch on idea 3G and I was on Vodafone 3G where it was available. (Almost at every district)

Though it is not available in all places, but bsnl is better in case of roaming.
No separate roaming data pack is available.
