Batelco Partners with Ericsson to Upgrade 4G and 5G Network in Bahrain

As part of this expansion, Batelco has deployed Ericsson's latest radio access network (RAN) products and modernised its Ericsson Core network infrastructure to the latest network function virtualisation infrastructure (NFVI) release.

Batelco Partners with Ericsson to Upgrade 4G and 5G Network in Bahrain
Batelco, part of the Beyon Group and Ericsson have announced the expansion of Batelco's mobile broadband network to enhance its 5G and 4G capabilities by strengthening network coverage and capacity across Bahrain. As part of this expansion, Batelco has deployed Ericsson's latest radio access network (RAN) products and modernised its Ericsson Core network infrastructure to the latest network function virtualisation infrastructure (NFVI) release, incorporating capacity expansions to meet the growth in both voice and data traffic.

Energy-Efficient Solutions

To boost efficiency, Batelco has deployed energy-saving solutions such as dual-mode triple band radios and Interleaved AIR 3218, reducing tower space requirements and cutting energy consumption by up to 20 percent.

Cloud-Native Technology

Additionally, the telecom provider has modernised its Ericsson Mediation platform with cloud-native technology, enabling improved operational efficiency and support for use cases, including the Internet of Things (IoT) and 5G Standalone.

Batelco's Chief Technology Officer, said, "Our ongoing collaboration with Ericsson strengthens our network coverage and capacity across the Kingdom and empowers us to meet the growing connectivity demands in Bahrain seamlessly."
