Azerbaijani operator Bakcell has introduced VoWiFi (Voice over Wi-Fi) calling service. Claimed to be the first in Azerbaijan, this service enables subscribers to make calls over Wi-Fi networks. The new service even allows users abroad to place calls worldwide at local Azerbaijani tariffs, provided they have an active Wi-Fi connection on their smartphones.

Bakcell VoWiFi Service
Bakcell says that it is the only operator in the country to provide VoWiFi. Subscribers wishing to use the VoWiFi service abroad must ensure their smartphones have active roaming and VoLTE/VoWiFi services.
Advantages for Subscribers
Bakcell highlights several advantages of its new VoWiFi (Voice over Wi-Fi) service for subscribers. Firstly, subscribers can receive incoming roaming calls free of charge while abroad. Secondly, users can make high-quality calls using their mobile number over Wi-Fi in areas with no cellular network coverage. Moreover, calls made using VoWiFi abroad are charged at local Azerbaijani tariffs, saving on international calling expenses.

Bakcell's New Brand Identity
According to Bakcell, VoWiFi technology is part of its new brand strategy aimed at introducing innovative products to subscribers. In May, the telco unveiled a new brand identity and plans to serve users by leveraging advanced technologies, including AI. During the announcement, the company emphasised its transition into the digital future.
