As promised, Taiwanese smartphone brand, Asus has pushed the much-awaited Electronic Image Stabilisation feature to all the variants of the Zenfone Max Pro M1. To recall, Asus first rolled out the feature to the 6GB RAM variant of Max Pro M1, and now, it has confirmed the rollout of EIS feature to 3GB, 4GB RAM variants as well. Asus also remarked that the update has been seeded in the form of batches and it will eventually reach everyone in the next couple of weeks. The FOTA update weighs around 88MB in size and it also carries various bug fixes. Asus has also added support for Live Wallpapers with this update, something which its users have been asking since the launch of the handset.
Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1: 3GB, 4GB RAM Variants Getting New Software Update
Asus sold more than a million units of Zenfone Max Pro M1 in India - including the three variants- 3GB+32GB, 4GB+64GB and 6GB+64GB. While the two variants priced at Rs 10,999 and Rs 12,999 offers similar camera hardware of 13MP+5MP shooters on the rear side, the premium variant which is priced at Rs 14,999 comes with 16MP+5MP. In our testing, we found out that the 6GB RAM variant captures better images than the other two variants. In fact, the camera performance of 6GB Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 is pretty close to that of Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro, which explains the entire story.
Now coming back to the new update received by the Max Pro M1's 3GB, 4GB RAM models, it adds two new features and brings fixes to three annoying bugs. It's worth noting that Asus has been constantly rolling out new software updates to improve the user experience and the latest 15.2016.1810.337 is one amongst them.
First of all, the new update brings Electronic Image Stabilisation feature to the cameras and it also added Live Image support. Earlier, the Max Pro M1 did not allow users to set live images as their wallpapers, which annoyed some users, but the issue has been solved now by the company. There are three bug fixes included as well- Improve ringtone issue on answer-calls with Bluetooth, Fix Wi-Fi compatibility issue with Asus AC51U and FM Radio issue fix.
Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1: Successor Incoming
In other news, Asus is already working on the successor to the Zenfone Max Pro M1 and the phone will be aptly named as Asus Zenfone Max Pro M2. The phone was already spotted in a couple of regulatory portals and some key specifications were leaked online too. The Max Pro M2 will be a significant upgrade over the Max Pro M1 as it's said to pack three rear cameras, Snapdragon 660 SoC, 13MP front-facing shooter, Android 9 Pie and the same 5000mAh battery. Asus Indonesia confirmed the Max Pro M2 will be launched on December 11.
