Airtel deploys Aadhaar-based e-KYC solution in Delhi NCR, Vodafone to provide the service pan-India from August 24

Bharti Airtel has started rolling out the Aadhaar-based e-KYC solution in stores across Delhi NCR. The solution will be extended to other places in the upcoming days.

With the Aadhaar-based e-KYC solution, the customer purchasing a SIM card can avail an instant verification process. The customer will have to submit/verify their Biometrics (iris scan / fingerprints) at the Point of Sale. The biometrics data will be matched with the UIDAI database and once validated, the connection will be activated instantly in his/her name. This means that the customer is free from the hassles of submitting the documents as he/she’ll be verified with his/her Aadhar card details.

Airtel claimed the service to be fully secured. According to the company, the retailer/representative at the point of sale will also be registered under Aadhaar.

Commenting on the initiative, Mr. Ajai Puri, Director – Operations (India & South Asia), Bharti Airtel said, “Aadhaar based e-KYC for a mobile connection is a milestone for the telecom industry and will enhance customer experience through faster on boarding. A customer can now walk into an Airtel store and walk out with an active mobile connection in a matter of few minutes. The solution also complements the Government’s Digital India vision and will add to Airtel’s green initiatives.”

Another operator who has welcomed the Aadhaar-based e-KYC solution is Vodafone India. The operator has partnered with the Department of Telecom (DoT) for pilot testing of the AADHAR based e-KYC solutions in two circles.

It will roll out e-KYC solution across 4500 stores across India from 24 August 2016. “The use of e-KYC will drastically cut down delays in activating new connections because of infrastructure challenges like power cuts, transporting volumes of paper, lack of photocopying and photography facilities. It will also strengthen the verification process as there will be no room for any manual error,” commented Vodafone India, Director (commercial), Sandeep Kataria in a statement.

Airtel Sucks. Showing 5 bars in network, but there is no real network.
Fed up with Airtel scams. Airtel faking network signal bars to show good network.
Airtel is real fake network, but they are claiming it as open network.

Shame on Airtel & scammer Gopal Vittal.

They should make ekyc re-verification compulsory for even existing subscribers with a window of 6-8 months so that all fraud connections can be eliminated. Ppl dont even know they might be having 10-20 connections in their name that someone else is using.
