BSNL eSIM to be Available by March 2025

While the private telecom operators have been offering eSIM services to customers, BSNL hasn't been able to. However, the company has confirmed that it will launch eSIM services for customers by March 2025.

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), a state-run Indian telecom company, is soon going to launch eSIM services. eSIM services are currently offered by Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel, and Vodafone Idea (Vi). eSIM market in India is still very small as not every phone supports it. Regardless, the higher-end phones of today have support for eSIMs and those customers have started opening up to the possibility of keeping eSIM as their primary SIM.

While the private telecom operators have been offering eSIM services to customers, BSNL hasn't been able to. However, the company has confirmed that it will launch eSIM services for customers by March 2025. eSIM will be made available for the customers in the next three months, Sandeep Govil, director consumer mobility, BSNL board said.

"BSNL is in the process of rolling out 4G services pan India, and the process is likely to be completed by June 2025. eSIM will be made available in next three months," said Govil.

This would be a major step from BSNL in modernising its network services. The telecom operator had roped in BCG (Boston Consulting Group), a US-based firm to help with coming back on track to profitability. Post that, a new logo was announced by the company along with new services. Along with this, BSNL is very close to reaching its milestone of completing 1 lakh 4G sites rollout.

Once this happens, it will be a great thing for the customers as they will finally be able to access high-speed network services from BSNL. The bonus thing here will be that it will be via cheaper tariffs. However, the telco has a long road to cover before it can reach to the level of network coverage where the private telcos stand today.
